Today was one of those days where I found myself struggling against the tide of this world. A day where I was allowing the world to drive me down. You ever have those days…where you begin to second guess your decision to crawl out of bed. Yep – that was my day. One of those days where you find the pressure of all of life’s challenges piling up in your path. You look at the wall of bricks and begin to say that it cannot be overcome.
However, today was also a day where I was thankful for a loving God who will not only walk with me in these times but carry me as well. I day where I could look to the Father and say “can you please take these burdens…my shoulders are just not big enough.” The amazing thing is that we have a God who will not only place the burdens upon his sholders but lift us up as well. How amazing that we can turn to the creator of the universe with our challenges and he is there for us. For those of you who have read Pilgrim’s Progress. I can understand how it felt when Christian came to the cross and his burden was removed from his back.
He ran thus till be came at a place somewhat ascending, and upon that place stood a cross, and a little below, in the bottom, a sepulchre. So I saw in my dream, that just as Christian came up with the cross, his burden loosed from off his shoulders, and fell from off his back, and began to tumble, and so continued to do, till it came to the mouth of the sepulchre, where it fell in, and I saw it no more.
Then was Christian glad and lightsome, and said, with a merry heart, “He hath given me rest by His sorrow, and life by His death.”
All praise and glory to the Father!
“I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)”
